(I'm not too sure what this video it, but it was the first one that came up lol)
I chose the song You Gotta Want It by Roberta Gold. I feel that this song is a good choice, and it relates to Tally's whole situation. You can tell, from the first moment you're introduced to Tally, that all the girl wants and desires is to be pretty. It's all she knows! She's waited 16 miserable years for that one car ride to her operation. And finally, when that moment comes it's stolen from her. She's told by Dr. Cable "you can die ugly for all I care..." until she agrees to help them find Shay. And as much as she'd hate to let down Shay, she has no choice. It's either die ugly or be born into a new pretty life. So, I think this song kind of fits the whole "motivation" to become pretty. The song states and restates "You've gotta want it from the bottom of your heart/You've gotta give it everything you've got/You've gotta live it and never let it go/Feel it so completely/Body, mind and soul." And Tally does what to be pretty with all her heart, mind, and soul. It's all she's ever wanted... In order to actually find Shay, she needs to solve the coded directions. And at first she finds it impossible. The directions are a complete conundrum. But as she learns how easy is it to solve it - line by line - she's on her way. All she need to do is believe in herself (to find the answers). You Gotta Want It also says "Everyone walks through the fire/Everyone lives for a dream/With all that you’ve got is desire/To believe is a powerful thing, Yeah." When Tally starts to believe in herself, it's obviously a powerful thing, because she starts to breeze through the directions.
